Olive N Sage Academy was born out of something deeply personal. After Tricia was diagnosed with pre-cancer and underwent surgery, Chaz began searching for a way to improve the appearance of her scar. That’s when he discovered paramedical tattooing.

Chaz took a course, but quickly realized how difficult it was to grasp the techniques without hands-on training. Tricia, with her background in tiny tattoos and permanent makeup, decided to try another class — only to find that the industry as a whole was lacking. The techniques were incomplete, the knowledge wasn’t thorough, and students were left struggling to succeed. In fact, we found that only 1 out of every 15 students from most paramedical tattoo programs ever built a sustainable business.

Having both owned and scaled multiple businesses before, we knew artists needed more than just technical skills — they needed real strategies to become confident business owners, not just practitioners. That’s why we created Olive N Sage Academy: to deliver advanced techniques, accredited training, and mentorship designed to actually help artists succeed.

Today, Olive N Sage Academy is one of the only accredited programs of its kind in the U.S., training hundreds of students nationwide and helping them turn their passion into profitable, freedom-filled careers. Our mission is simple: equip artists with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to change lives — starting with their own.

In those early days, after Tricia’s surgery and Chaz’s first class, it would’ve been easy to. The training felt incomplete, the industry didn’t have the standards or support we knew artists needed, and we saw too many students leaving courses confused and unprepared. Most would have stopped there.

But instead of stepping back, we leaned in. We dove deeper into what this industry was missing — real mentorship, advanced techniques, and the business skills every artist needs to thrive. We knew artists weren’t failing because they lacked passion. They were failing because they weren’t being given the full picture: the marketing, the sales systems, the confidence to be business owners, not just technicians.





So Olive N Sage Academy was built differently. We restructured what training looks like, systemized what it takes to succeed, and created programs designed to give artists not just skills, but a path to freedom.

Our first business that really took off wasn’t even in tattooing — it was a co-working salon we built to help stylists learn how to plan, grow, and eventually open salons of their own.

On the outside, it looked like a huge success. We were mentoring professionals, creating opportunities, and building something that people were excited to be part of. But behind the scenes, we were learning the hard lessons of running a business — from managing overhead to navigating cash flow — and realizing how many stylists struggled not because of their talent, but because they didn’t have the right business support. That experience planted the seed for what would later become Olive N Sage Academy: education that blends skill with real business strategy.

OUR JOURNEY

We grew up a little different. Chaz was raised in a middle-class family, while Tricia grew up on the poorer side of the financial spectrum. From both perspectives, we saw the same thing — a lack of freedom. Freedom of time, of finances, of passion, and often, even freedom of choice.

We knew we wanted something different. From a young age, we were both drawn to entrepreneurship as our ‘way out’ — a ticket to creating a future that looked nothing like the limitations we grew up with. That drive is what has fueled every business we’ve built since, and ultimately, what led us to create Olive N Sage Academy: a path for others to find the same freedom.
